Image of stone bridge over streamThe mission of the Indiana County Tourist Bureau is to enhance the economic and environmental well-being of Indiana County and its citizens through the promotion of comprehensive tourism marketing.

Tourism marketing in Indiana County means an extensive network of partnerships and cooperatives working to attract visitors from all over the country and the world.

The tourism industry employs nearly 2,000
Indiana County residents and is a multi-million dollar contibutor to Indiana County’s economy. Specific efforts are made to attract visitors from the various tourism markets, including motorcoach, sports, leisure, meetings and conventions, education, associations, and corporate groups. 

Partnership is Key

The Indiana County Tourist Bureau partners with various local, regional and state agencies, and is a nationalImage of poster that says Lovin' Downtown Every Second player in the tourism industry. Visitors from all 50 states, Canada and Europe visit on a regular basis.  

Forging strong partnerships with surrounding neighboring counties, such as Butler, Lawrence and Armstrong counties, as well as the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, contributes to cr
eating a strong regional presence and brings bottom line dollars to the market. Working in conjunction with the Pennsylvania State Tourism Office on various programs allows the Tourist Bureau to be known both nationally and internationally.

One of the key benefits as a member of the Tourist Bureau is the partnering and networking that occurs at many local events. In addition, members can post their event or activity, free of charge, on the Tourist Bureau’s online calendar of events. The office also provides maps, brochures and community services information.

The Tourist Bureau provides information and resources about the County and region, their members, and area attractions. Something for Everyone

Known as The Christmas Tree Capital of the World, Indiana County offers its residents and visitors a multitude of activities to participate in or attend, a plethora of fairs and festivals, unique and custom item shopping experiences, ample outdoor recreation, historic sites, cultural events, and galleries, as well as wine, breweries, and distillery tastings and tours.

Indiana County is also home to Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), the iconic world famous actor Jimmy Stewart, and the quaint Old Order Amish community of Smicksburg.
