IUP SBDC Update: New Leadership, Same Local Commitment
The Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) Small Business Development Center (SBDC) continues to serve Indiana County under new regional management. The University of Pittsburgh SBDC now oversees the Indiana County outreach center, ensuring sustained support for local entrepreneurs through a unified regional strategy.
Dr. Eric Swift has been promoted to Assistant Director of the University of Pittsburgh SBDC and will continue to lead operations at the IUP SBDC within the Eberly College of Business. Under his leadership, the IUP outreach center consistently serves over 100 clients annually, contributing to more than $1 million in economic impact each year through business starts, expansions, and capital infusion. We are pleased to continue our partnership with IUP to provide students with real world experience and help small businesses in the region to start, grow, and prosper.
Dr. Swift brings extensive experience as a management consultant and business educator. He has worked with over 500 clients ranging from startups to mid-market companies, co-founded a small business, and served as Director of Graduate Business Programs where he quadrupled enrollment in five years. He has taught over 30 business courses across six Pittsburgh universities and has consulted nationally through Project G.A.T.E. (Growing America Through Entrepreneurship). Dr. Swift holds an MBA and Ed.D. from Duquesne University and completed executive education in leadership and entrepreneurship through Harvard.
