Manufacturing Day 2023
Held annually on the first Friday in October, with events that continue throughout the month, Manufacturing Day-MFG Day-helps show the reality and future of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging thousands of companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to students, parents, educators and community leaders. As manufacturers seek to fill 4 million high-skill, high-tech and high-paying jobs over the next decade, MFG Day empowers manufacturers to come together to address their collective challenges and build excitement about manufacturing careers so they can help their communities and future generations thrive.
Each year the Indiana County Center for Economic Operations partners with the Indiana County Manufacturing Consortium to promote MFG Day in Indiana County. The mission of the Tri-County Manufacturing Consortium is to identify and address the needs of the participating manufacturers. It will be accomplished by partnering with county and state organizations and educational providers.
This year the partnership worked with the Indiana Gazette to do a two-page ad spread in the Indiana and Blairsville editions, sharing information about MFG Day in general as well as spotlighting Indiana County manufacturers. Indiana County Commissioner Mike Keith voiced a recording, entitled “What Is Manufacturing” that aired on community radio stations and the Indiana County Manufacturing Consortium provided an interview on “Indiana in the Morning”.
Miller Fabrication Solutions in Homer City conducted tours of their facility during the day.
The Indiana County Commissioners proclaimed October 2 – 6 as Manufacturing Week in Indiana County.
