Over 9,000 students are enrolled in various undergraduate and graduate degree programs. IUP also continues to see demand for its career preparation programs, including the Criminal Justice Training Center, the premier Act 120 municipal police officer certification and the school resource officer and armed private security program; the Academy of Culinary Arts in Punxsutawney; and the programs offered through the IUP Institute for Rural Health and Safety, including emergency services training (the paramedic program), and the novice state-wide driver program and the safety/driver education teacher certification program, the only one in Pennsylvania.

IUP fuels innovation and business growth for local startups through a vibrant ecosystem of resources. At IUP’s Business and Beyond Resource Center (BBRC), entrepreneurs connect with experienced mentors and tap into a rich array of business support services – from one-on-one coaching on business plans to market research guidance. Meanwhile, the university’s STEAMSHOP makerspace puts state-of-the-art fabrication tools and collaborative workspace at their fingertips,enabling rapid prototyping and hands-on training in design and technology. Through IUP’s partnership with the University of Pittsburgh Small Business Development Center (SBDC), entrepreneurs also gain no-cost consulting, workshops, and an expanded network of expertise to accelerate their success.Together, these programs provide the tools, mentorship, workspace, and services that empower local entrepreneurs to transform bold ideas into thriving ventures, making IUP an invaluable launchpad for entrepreneurial success.
