ICTB – Always Active
The Indiana County Tourist Bureau, along with the Indiana County Center for Economic Operations, was pleased to have supplied support once again for the Lucy Donnelly Memorial Fund Light-up Night & Holiday Parade and the First Commonwealth Bank “It’s A Wonderful Life” Festival. This year’s celebration saw an increase in participation from local businesses & organizations as well as community volunteers which helped to expand the festivities offered throughout the holiday season. The excitement was refreshing and seemed contagious as there were more visitors who traveled to Indiana County to experience the small-town hospitality offered to all especially during this time of year in the Christmas Tree Capital of the World and Jimmy Stewart’s hometown. The Indiana County Tourist Bureau (ICTB) is thankful to the team of community members who continue to collaborate to make this celebration happen and we are thankful that we can say “It’s A Wonderful Life” in Indiana County!
The ICTB is excited for the debut of the new 2024 Wall Calendar, highlighting the talents of local photographers and featuring unique views of Indiana County. Each tourist bureau member will receive a calendar through the mail and there will be a limited supply for others available at the ICTB office, found in the Indiana Mall.

November 15, 2023, was indeed a special day to promote Indiana County at the State Capitol in Harrisburg! Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman graciously hosted the Indiana County Center for Economic Operations, for the day, in the conference room in his suite of offices. Representing the CEO affiliates were Mark Hilliard, President, Indiana County Chamber of Commerce, Byron Stauffer, Executive Director, Indiana County Development Corporation, Nicholas Schmidt, Associate Director, Indiana County Office of Planning & Development, and Laura Herrington, Executive Director, Indiana County Tourist Bureau. The CEO team, also representing fellow affiliates, Indiana County Commissioners, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania, met with various leaders of state offices and associations throughout the day. The theme for the day was collaboration and the meetings provided time for discussions about business opportunities within Indiana County. The meetings also provided the perfect occasion to present Indiana County as a destination for state-wide and regional meetings, conferences, and events. Conversation was robust and it was a privilege to have Sen. Pittman and Rep. Struzzi engaged in the discussions. Look for positive outcomes for Indiana County as the result of the efforts put forth by all involved in Indiana County Day.
Look for a new edition of the Seasonal Events Brochure featuring upcoming events, which ICTB will distribute throughout the county, in early 2024. The response to this promotional piece has been positive and tourist bureau members are encouraged to continue to submit their events and news items to be highlighted in this piece as well as on the website calendar https://www.visitindianacountypa.org/indiana-county-events/.
