Robin Gorman Resigns as Indiana County Commissioner: A Legacy of Economic Development Successes

Robin Gorman, Indiana County Commissioner since 2020, has announced her resignation, effective November 8, 2024, marking the end of a transformative era for the county’s economic landscape. Known for her leadership in workforce and economic development, Gorman’s efforts have left an indelible mark on Indiana County’s growth, fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors to drive sustainable economic initiatives.

Gorman’s new position will be vice president of Homer City Redevelopment LLC.  She will be a part of the team working to transition the old Homer City Generation LLC power plant grounds into a new purpose.

Before serving as commissioner, Gorman spent time in economic and workforce development, which included a leadership role with Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). Her background enabled her to spearhead numerous initiatives aimed at revitalizing the county’s economy, attracting new industries, and strengthening local businesses.

One of Gorman’s accomplishments was in 2001, where she and Jack Clark, former president of Clark Metal Products, Inc. were instrumental in the formation of the Indiana County Manufacturing Consortium.

During her announcement at the Commissioners meeting, Gorman commented, “I truly believe by joining the Homer City Redevelopment team, I will be able to contribute my experience, skills, and knowledge to articulate a vision for the redevelopment of the Homer City site that will represent transitional change in our region and our commonwealth for generations to come.”
