Buttermilk Falls

Buttermilk Falls, a 45′ waterfall nestled in a scenic spot of Indiana County, is a must see! The property was once owned by Fred McFeely, grandfather of Fred Rogers of children’s television fame, and was donated to Indiana County Parks & Trails in 1995. Director Ed Patterson knew he had to make some changes when the number of park visitors exceeded 18,000 in 2017. Ed devised a plan to build a bridge and provide stair access to the bottom of the falls.  Thanks to the collaboration of Indiana County Parks and Trails, the Indiana County Commissioners, Thomas R. Harley Architects LLC and Vince Building Co. of Greensburg, they did just that. The bridge and series of steps and platforms help to preserve the natural area. Visitors can now safely proceed below the falls and then actually walk behind the falls.
