Pennsylvania Trail of the Year 2020 – The Ghost Town Trail

Originally a railroad corridor, The Ghost Town Trail (GTT) has developed into an award-winning, 46-mile hiking & biking trail. In 2003, the GTT was designated as a National Recreation Trail by the U. S. Department of Interior. Then in 2016, it ranked seventh on the “Best Hiking Trails in the United States” list by American Towns. Finally, in 2020, GTT was named “Trail of the Year” by PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). Managed by the Indiana County Parks & Trails and Cambria County Conservation & Recreation Authority (CCCRA), the GTT is part of the Trans Allegheny Trails network in western Pennsylvania.
